Carlsen Funeral Home of
Le Mars was founded in July of 2001 by Douglas and Karen Carlsen. Construction on our facility in Le Mars
began in May of 2001 and was completed in January of 2002. Our facility was designed and constructed to
be multifunctional with the needs of our client families as our main
priority.
We provide the facilities
and environment for dignified funeral services that express the preferences of
each individual family and provide a meaningful memory of lasting
importance. Our spacious 6,900 sq. foot
facility includes a large chapel area that can be expand for seating of 250
people, children's play room, fully handicapped accessible rest rooms, and a
family fellowship center.
Our Family Fellowship
Center is very unique to our area. We
at Carlsen Funeral Home decided to designate an area of our facility strictly
for family gatherings. We offer
comfortable table seating for 100 people with a full kitchen facilities
available for use. The Fellowship
Center is available for families at no cost during visitations and for funeral
receptions. The Fellowship Center can be
a comfortable place to sit and visit during a stressful time.
On September 1, 2004, the
Carlsens welcomed Dan and Lori Rexwinkel as partners in the Carlsen Funeral
Home. Along with that partnership, came
the purchase of the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa, from Ron and Karen
Schroeder of Akron, longtime funeral directors in the Akron-Westfield area.
The location is presently known as the Carlsen Funeral
Home - Schroeder Chapel. The
funeral home has a long heritage and tradition of serving the communities and
people of Western Plymouth county and Northeast Union County for over 50
years. Dan and Lori are the resident
managers of the funeral home.
The Carlsen Funeral Home
- Schroeder Chapel in Akron offers many accommodations that you may see in a
modern funeral home, but also the characteristics of an early 19th century
funeral home.
Recently, the funeral home added their handicap accessible
entryway that allows people with disabilities the use of a ramp versus the
steps. It also allowed a larger foyer
for people to gather and visit during visitations, funeral service, or memorial
service.
The Carlsen Funeral Home
- Schroeder Chapel offers a chapel for visitations, funeral services, memorial
services or family gatherings. The
chapel can accommodate up to 75 people.
We can seat overflow in adjoining rooms that can hold up to 40 more
people. The chapel can be arrange to
meet the desires and needs for all families.
Chairs can be arrange for a visitation that may have a prayer service, vigil
service, or rosary, etc., or can be set in an informal setting that allows
people to sit in a group and visit with friends and family. The chapel allows us the space to
arrange floral tributes and display family pictures.
The Carlsen Funeral Home -
Schroeder Chapel offers a wide array of caskets and vaults, to suit families of
all needs. We are committed to offering
the best quality casket and vaults. We
offer wood and metal caskets for our families.
Wood casket types include poplar, oak, ash, and cherry woods. Our metal caskets range from 20-gauge steel,
18-gauge steel, Stainless Steel, Copper, and Solid Bronze. We offer quality burial vaults from the
Wilbert Vault Company. All of the
vaults that we offer are protective vaults and all meet the minimum requirement
of all cemeteries locally and abroad.
They range from all concrete vaults, to stainless steel, copper, and
bronze.
We offer a warm and
comfortable area for families during difficult times. It's a place to sit and relax away from the public during
visitations. It also provides a place
to share with friends and families, or to have a cup of coffee. The room offers the natural characteristics
of a classic funeral home with solid oak woodwork and pocket doors.
We appreciate your consideration of allowing us to serve
you.
